My nearly three year old daughter was diagnosed with Verbal
Apraxia, August 2003, and at that time she was approximately
at the expressive speech level of a one and a half year old,
with about 10 to 20 word ‘approximations’. We
started at Excel Speech Therapy at the end of August 2003.
It is now the end of March 2004, 7 months later and my daughter
is speaking full, intelligible words, her vocabulary has improved
by more than a couple of hundred words and more than 5-word
sentences. I fully and completely attribute the success in
her progress to Heather and Katherine at Excel. She has had
one or two sessions a week (30 or 45 minutes each) and has
had  considerable
and intensive therapy each and every time. After each session,
I can note a specific improvement in Rachel’s speech.
Heather works on one specific area each time, such as the
/n/ sound at the end of a word. Rachel’s improvement
in speech and language is noticed by all who know her and
we are thrilled at her progress. She works hard, responds
wonderfully to Heather and her intensive style and Rachel
anticipates going to each session with great enthusiasm.
I have recommended Excel Speech Therapy to several parents
I know who have children with significant speech delays and
I can say at least one of them has brought their child to
Heather. This parent has also seen the vast improvements made
by her two year old child in a very short time.
I am unable to adequately and emphatically express how indebted
I am to Excel and to Heather and Katherine, especially. I
owe all of my daughter’s speech development to them
and we would not be where we are today if it were not for
their tremendous dedication. They are professional, encouraging,
supportive, and I could not ask for a better or more nurturing
environment for my child. I urge all parents who have children
with speech or language delays to seek help and there is simply
no better place in which to bring your child. The child and
parent will receive the utmost care, up-to-date information,
consideration and support. The results you will see and hear
are all you need to know you have made the right decision
for your family.
