SPLASH Therapy was designed by Excel Speech
Therapy Center to help children develop communication skills
in a different and exciting setting. A child who participates
in this program works one-on-one and in small groups to target
individualized speech, language, and social goals. Research
has shown that children with sensory integration deficits
and/or children with Autism Spectrum Disorders benefit from
learning environments that support their sensory needs. Being
in the water provides stimulation and input creating an effective
learning environment for facilitating language.
At Excel, SPLASH Therapy has helped children increase skills
in the following areas:
- Sign language
- Speech
- Vocabulary
- Attention to structured activities
- Initiation and maintenance of communication
- Functional and constructive play
Who:
Any child with speech and language deficits who would
benefit from a new/different learning environment.
